Alison Vallance

Alison VallanceAlison Vallance was appointed to the Waypoint Board of Directors in 2008 and served as Vice-Chair until June 2009. She is currently Chair of the Property Committee and is a member of the Resources and Governance Committees. She was a Board member and treasurer of Midland Area Reading Council (now Gateway) and a volunteer literacy tutor there, and at Community Living Huronia. She has worked on physician recruitment in Elmvale, and joined the Penetanguishene General Hospital Board in 2003, later serving as its Vice-Chair. Alison has attended Ontario Hospital Association conferences and seminars, and also those of the Catholic Health Association adn Centre for Clinical Ethics. She has been a catalyst for the Waypoint Art Project, a community, patient and staff art-making collaboration culminating in murals for the Atrium Building in October 2014.

Alison is an Associate of the Ontario College of Art (and Design) in Drawing and Painting and holds a Masters degree in Environmental Studies from York University, She has been a teacher, textile designer/printer and completed her professional career in arts administration, first with the Ontario Crafts Council and then as Associate Director of Visual and Performing Arts at Sheridan College, retiring in 1998.
