Registration is now open for the 22nd Annual Suicide AwarenessJosh RivedalConference at Geneva Park on April 14th. This year’s lineup may be the best yet with Josh Rivedal, author, global speaker, actor, arts entrepreneur and Jack-of-Many-Trades as keynote speaker. Rivedal is a survivor of both his father’s and grandfather’s suicide. After nearly making an attempt on his own life, he got the help he needed and recovered. He now uses his creative skills with mental health work and advocacy to give a voice to his father, grandfather and nearly one million people worldwide who take their lives each year. He provides hope and healing through his work making sure no one ever has to go through what he and his family endured because of depression, silence and suicide.

The rest of the lineup includes Waypoint’s Dr. Kathleen Askland presenting on “Talking About Suicide – Risk, Stigma & Trust”, workshops focused on the LGBTQ and First Nations communities as well as a full day safeTalk by LivingWorks workshop, free with the cost of registration for participants. 

The afternoon closing will help connect the dots of the entire day by asking “Are you where you should be? Back to balance. ” presented by Sherry Lawson. Sherry is an Ojibway and Algonkian storyteller who has won awards for her community service to the Chippewas of Rama First Nation, where she currently holds the position of Administrator of Heritage Services. In her past she has also been a trainer, a librarian, a guidance counsellor for high risk students, a Justice of the Peace and a Casino Director. She is also the author of two autobiographical books and one children’s book. 

The conference is steal at $60/person which includes the conference, lunch and community agency/organization display area. Registration deadline is April 8th.
