In the late eighties a group of Christian business men from Covenant Christian Community Church and Knox Presbyterian conceived the idea of a community-wide breakfast to celebrate the ecumenical spirit, and to bring Christians of all denominations together for an annual event. From its humble origins of roughly 75 participants, it grew to nearly 300 attendees from nearly every Christian church in the area. After more than 25 years and with involvement from Catholic, Mainstream and Evangelical faith groups, the event was retired in the Fall of 2017.
In early 2018, Waypoint and Martyrs' Shrine led the formation of a new initiative to sustain the original vision. Various staff members from both institutions and community member have contributed to the launching of a new breakfast to be held on Shrove (Pancake) Tuesday with the added goal of benefitting a local outreach initiative.
This year we will be highlighting the Guesthouse with the theme, And Who is My Neighbor, with contributions from Rev. Dr. Michael Knox, SJ. The Rev. Dr. Glenn Robitaille and the LeCaron Jazz Band.
Please join us for what promises to be a meaningful entry into the Lenten Season.
If you are unable to attend in person, but would still like to make a donation, please visit www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/39473 to contribute direct to The Guesthouse Shelter.
