Betty Valentine was born and raised in Penetanguishene. She enjoyed a 31-year career in Municipal Finance with the Town of Penetanguishene, most recently as Treasurer before retiring in 2004.
Betty has long had an interest in volunteer service, having been a member of many local boards including the North Simcoe Catholic Family Life Centre, Hospice Huronia and Huronia District Hospital Board among others. She has been a member of the Board at Waypoint since its inception in 2008, serving as Chair of Resource Committee and Vice-Chair of the Board. She was appointed Board Chair in 2013 and continues in that role.
Betty has a keen interest in board governance and Catholic health care and has taken many continuing education courses in that regard. Besides her involvement at Waypoint, Betty is an active volunteer with St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, the Penetanguishene Public Library and the Midland and Area Terry Fox Run. In 2012, she was honoured to receive one of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medals in recognition of more than 40 years of volunteer service in our area.
