Mental Health in Motion 2019
Great weather, more participants, many volunteers including so many Waypoint staff, new partners, a silent auction and great prizes all made Mental Health in Motion a huge success this year at Harbourside Park in downtown Midland. The event raised more than $24,000 thanks to the silent auction, participant registrations and pledges, and the kindness of our donors, including the presentation of proceeds from Yoga in the Park from yoga volunteer Lisa O’Driscoll of The Yoga House.

With the vision and leadership of our Mental Health in Motion chair Amber McCauley, who sits on the hospital’s Development Committee and support from our former development officer Christine Baguley, the communications and fund development team, Diane Desroches and many community and staff volunteers, the format changed this year to include wellness activities along the walk and a very large silent auction with 37 items and packages. We were excited to have 138 participants, up from about 90 last year and more than 50 volunteers, partners and members of the public out showing their support for Waypoint and mental health.

Special events play an important role in raising much needed funds for mental health research, programs, and patient care. They also build awareness of the urgent mental health care needs in our community and Waypoint’s role in providing support to those most seriously affected by mental illness.

Please consider participating in our annual events or making a donation to Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care. You can make a difference!
