Waypoint's volunteers inspire hope, reduce isolation, enhance patient self-esteem, help eliminate stigma, and improve the quality of life for patients by sharing their time, knowledge, and generous hearts. Our volunteers come from all walks of life and volunteer for a variety of reasons.
We offer a variety of opportunities for volunteers who are interested in assisting people who have mental illness with direct and in-direct care opportunities that include:
- pet therapy
- spiritual care visitors
- one-to-one visitors
- activity assistants
- income tax assistants
Volunteers are recruited using Best Practice Guidelines. They receive training and orientation prior to an assignment and further support, learning and supervision via a staff mentor.
