Rehabilitation Services
Waypoint's Rehabilitation Services discover where you are at in the change process, help illuminate a meaningful pathway in your mental health recovery and set a plan to build on your strengths and skills. You will set the pace with your team to help accomplish the plan whether it is finding work, a meaningful hobby, make connections with your community or setting out a plan for self-discovery.
Services are offered in both Regional and Provincial programs of the hospital at the main campus, 500 Church St. Penetanguishene and in the Community at the Community Health Hub, 287 Bayshore Dr., Midland.
Here's what we offer:
Education Services
• Support clients in developing achievable education goals to support their mental health recovery
• Collaborate with community educational facilities to support clients in their chosen endeavours
• Assist clients in accessing available funding opportunities
• Support with basic literacy and numeracy
• Offer specialized instruction in specific areas of interest
Employment Services
• Individualized goal-based services to identify skills, strengths and interests
• Develop employment readiness skills
• Continued support on the job
• Specialized support to meet mental health recovery needs in employment
• Employment counselling (1-to-1 or group programming)
• Network and work collaboratively with community resources and other service providers
• Support with job search
Recreation Services
• Support and assist people to explore, develop, enhance and maintain meaningful recreational pursuits
and leisure lifestyle
• Encourage clients to develop a meaningful leisure lifestyle
• Develop a positive attitude toward leisure involvement
• Offer individual and group goal-oriented programs
• Increase awareness and access to cultural/social and recreation opportunities in the local community
• Assist individuals to build skills towards becoming active members of the community.
Personal Care (Regional and Provincial sites)
• Our hairdresser offers a variety of services aimed at encouraging clients to look and feel their best
• Services are free of charge
• Three salons throughout the hospital and on-unit visits available for those that cannot access the salon
• Appointments can be made through unit staff or by calling Ext. 2250
Creative Arts Therapy (Regional and Provincial sites)
• Encourage clients to explore self-expression, personal insight, and be part of a creative community
through individual or group goal-oriented programs
• Support clients by using evidence-based interventions in a supportive environment that focus
on the process, not the finished product
• Introduce clients to ways in which creative arts can enhance a positive leisure lifestyle through
mediums such as collage, calligraphy, painting, drawing and sculpture
• Provide Creative Arts programming in both group and 1:1 settings
Music Therapy Services (Presently on Hold)
Music Therapists:
• Support people in reaching their mental health recovery goals in a creative and
therapeutic environment
• Collaborate with people by using evidence-based music strategies such as musical improvisation,
therapeutic song writing, and active music listening
• Offer individualized treatment plans that build upon people’s unique strengths
and experiences
• Provide Music Therapy services in both 1:1 and group settings
