Volunteering at Waypoint
We are incredibly proud of our volunteer program at Waypoint. Our volunteers inspire hope, reduce isolation and enhance patient self-esteem, help eliminate stigma and improve the quality of life for patients by sharing their time, knowledge and generous hearts. Our volunteers come from all walks of life and volunteer for a variety of reasons.
Volunteering provides a unique opportunity to get involved with an organization or for a cause that is personally meaningful to you and we endeavour to help you decide whether or not we are a good fit for you.
We offer a variety of opportunities for volunteers who are interested in assisting
people who have mental illness with direct and in-direct care opportunities that include:
•
pet therapy
•
spiritual care visitors
•
entertainers
•
one-to-one visitors
•
activity assistants
•
income tax assistants
Volunteers are recruited using Best Practice Guidelines. They receive training and orientation prior to an assignment and further support, learning and supervision via a staff mentor.
To become a volunteer, download our
Volunteer Application form
