hospital Accredited with Exemplary Standing. This designation is the highest award available through the hospital accreditation program.

Attaining Accreditation with Exemplary Standing is a testament to Waypoint’s commitment to continuous improvement. Patients needing care at the hospital can be assured they are receiving the highest quality and safest care available as measured against a set of nationally recognized standards.

Waypoint met 100 per cent of the Required Organizational Practices as well as 99.7 per cent of Accreditation Canada standards, the criteria and guidelines required to provide high-quality care and service.

“This is a milestone to be celebrated, and we congratulate our staff for their commitment to providing safe, high quality mental health services,” says Carol Lambie, Waypoint President and CEO. “Accreditation Canada reports that this hard work is a demonstration of a culture of quality improvement, and we wholeheartedly agree.”

The surveyors provided feedback on the hospital’s strengths and challenges, sharing their perspective that the team at Waypoint are fantastic, dedicated and caring. Of note is the strong partnership with the Patient/Client and Family Council and community partners, along with a strong safety culture.

“In addition to safe and high quality services, Waypoint has continuously demonstrated a strong commitment to engaging and partnering with patients and families,” says Yvette Brook, Executive Director of the Patient/Client & Family Council. “This award recognizes that commitment and Waypoint’s ongoing focus of excellence in patient and family centered care.”

With these excellent results the executive summary from Accreditation Canada states our hospital has “gone beyond the requirements of the Qmentum Accreditation program and demonstrates excellence in quality improvement.” Waypoint is now accredited until 2023.
