Home Referrals

Navigating the mental health system sometimes is challenging, particularly in areas where services are limited.

We have support systems in place to provide information to families, physicians, and hospitals with accessing suitable and timely mental health services.

Our Central Intake team can assist with answering your questions about navigating the mental health system or guide you through the referral process for Waypoint.

All our referrals for regional (non-forensic) programs, including outpatients, are received by the Central Intake Office and reviewed by a team of clinicians.

Our clinicians work collaboratively with the psychiatrist and clinical programs to ensure patients/clients are referred and directed to the most appropriate services.

Crisis and Other Supports

Central Intake is not a crisis service, if you require immediate help, please call 911 or visit your closest emergency department.

Central Intake is available from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., 7 days a week including holidays. Messages can be left after business hours and will be returned the next business day.

  • Referrals can be accepted for consultations, outpatient or inpatient services, click here to see the programs and services we offer
  • When your referral is received at Waypoint it will be reviewed by clinicians on the Central Intake team for completeness and eligibility for programs or services offered at Waypoint; additional information may be required to complete the referral process
  • The Central Intake clinicians send the completed referral to a psychiatrist for review
  • The outcome of the referral will be communicated to the referral source by the Central Intake team
  • In the event that we cannot accept the referral at Waypoint, the Central Intake team will provide information on alternative resources and advice on system navigation

Referrals to our forensic mental health programs are accepted only through the court system or under the jurisdiction of the Ontario Review Board. We do not admit individuals directly from the community to these programs.
