Research Ethics Board


The Research Ethics Board at Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care (Waypoint) reviews the ethical acceptability of all research involving human participants conducted within Waypoint or under its auspices, that is by Waypoint staff and students, or external researchers using Waypoint patients/clients or Waypoint staff. 

The REB has a diverse and experienced membership that includes scientists, clinicians, community members and those with specialized knowledge of law and ethics. 

The REB endeavors to ensure that all reviewed research is conducted in
accordance with: 
  1. The current version of the Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical
        Conduct for Research involving Human Participants (TCPS2) 
  2. The Health Ethics Guide
  3. Part C Division 5 of the Food and Drug Regulations of Health Canada 
  4. International Conference on Harmonization of Technical
        Requirements for the Registration of Pharmaceuticals for
        Human Use Guidance E6: Good Clinical Practice: Consolidated
        Guideline (ICH-GCP) 
  5. Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA)
  6. The Personal Information Protection and Electronic
        Document Act (PIPEDA)
