Breanna Bumstead, BSc
Research Analyst
Breanna graduated from Trent University in 2023 with a BSc (Honours) in Psychology with a focus on psychological development, where she studied attachment relationships, relationships and health, and social psychology. She initially joined Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care in 2024 as a Housekeeper, where she gained unique insights into patient-staff relationships and situational factors that influence patient behaviour.
Breanna’s background in relationships and health coupled with her experience working in a forensic mental health setting, formed her interest in the psychological impact of seclusion and the interpersonal and environmental factors that precede patient violence and lead to seclusion. By identifying risk factors, Breanna hopes that care teams can reduce instances of seclusion and improve patient-care and mental health outcomes. Outside of work, Breanna can be found crafting, traveling or spending time with her cat Sadie.
