For the Media
Waypoint values the role of the media and is committed to keeping the public informed. The Strategic Communications department is pleased to help members of the media share important information about mental health, addiction and geriatric care.
Journalists delving into issues surrounding mental health can find expert sources at Waypoint on numerous topics, including:
- Using artificial Intelligence to make care safer
- Intimate-partner violence
- Depression and anxiety
- Substance use and addiction
- Youth mental health
- Seniors mental health
- Housing for people with severe and persistent mental illness and addiction
- Reducing reliance on emergency departments for individuals in crisis
Strategic Communications co-ordinates all inquiries from journalists, and will connect you with the most appropriate spokesperson.
Because the privacy rights of our patients and staff are paramount, strict processes are in place for news gathering on Waypoint property. Our department will work with you to facilitate on-site interview requests, photography, videography and all other activities that require advance consent. While here, media must be escorted by a Strategic Communications staff person or designate.
Patients cannot be interviewed, photographed or videotaped until they have completed our consent form. This will ensure the patient is fully aware of the consent information and the intended use of the material gathered.
Strategic Communications can be reached at 705-549-3181, ext. 2073, or [email protected]. We will respond in a timely manner during business hours, Monday to Friday.
